How to collect testimonials from clients (without chasing them forever)

Most businesses have happy clients. Most of those clients never leave a testimonial. Not because they don't want to help, but because nobody made it easy enough. This guide shows you how to fix that.

Why testimonial collection fails

The typical process looks like this: a project wraps up, you send a message asking for a testimonial, the client says "of course," and then nothing happens. You follow up once, maybe twice. Eventually you move on.

The problem is not your clients. The problem is the process. Asking someone to record a Loom, write a paragraph, or send a WhatsApp voice note requires effort they have to find time for. Most people mean to do it. Very few actually do.

The fix is to remove as much friction as possible and make submitting a testimonial feel easier than ignoring the request.
